About this tool

SubRip (SRT) and WebVTT subtitles store captions as short, timed blocks. That structure is useful for video players, but awkward when you need a transcript for notes, blog drafts, interview summaries, or a searchable text document. This converter takes a standard subtitle file and removes timestamps and cue numbers while retaining the caption text.

The result is plain text, not an automatic transcription. It cannot recover dialogue that is missing from the original subtitle file, and it does not translate between languages. If a file uses unusual subtitle markup, review the output before publishing.

Creator tip: If you are repurposing a video transcript for a blog post, edit the result into clear paragraphs and add useful context. A raw subtitle dump is rarely a great reader experience.

Common questions

Does this remove timestamps?

Yes. Standard SRT or WebVTT cue timing and cue numbers are removed, leaving spoken words as plain text.

Are subtitle files uploaded?

No. This converter reads and processes your subtitle content in your browser.

Does it translate subtitles?

No. It converts the subtitle format into readable text without changing the language.
